Hay bales are a recurrent theme in the rural Door County peninsula. They start to present themselves in June and the summer that follows. All of a sudden you will see beautiful fields of tightly bonded bales with an occasional black bird perched on top. The balers are fascinating to watch and I even had a chance to ride on one. Out of nowhere they produce an awesome, huge, perfect bale!  It reminded me of a chicken laying an egg!  Fascinating!
