Early in our marriage we traveled to Venice, Italy, one of our all time favorites! We were awed by the uniqueness of this city and its surrounding islands, two of which we visited by ferry boat. One was Murano, the “island of glass” and the other was Burano, “the island of lace”. Taking the last, crowded ferry of the afternoon, we reached Burano only to have 45 minutes to explore the island. I quickly surveiled the island with my camera, taking as many photographs as possible. As a result, my photos subsequently became colorful paintings.
